CAROLYN E. JOHNSON, PRESIDENT, 2009-10
Native Minnesotan Carolyn E. Johnson joined Fullerton Sunrise Rotary Club in 1995 and within one year became its newsletter editor. After a two-year stint as editor, she was elected Vocational Service director, then Sergeant-at-Arms, President Elect, and President.
Carolyn is keenly aware that the RI Foundation is at the heart of all Rotary activities. She received the 2008 Rotary University Teacher Grant to teach at the University of Belize in Belmopan, Belize, an honor she deems as one of the highlights of being a Rotarian.
A second highlight was the opportunity to be in Okigwe, Nigeria, for the dedication of a water well in a small community, a project that was the result of the RI Matching Grant program.
Johnson is an associate professor in the Department of Communications at California State University, Fullerton, which she joined in 1972. Her areas of expertise are print journalism, public relations, and media ethics.
She and a fellow Fullerton Sunrise Rotarian recently returned from Nigeria, filled with enthusiasm and gratitude about the clean water project.
