Community Service involves the projects and activities the club undertakes to improve life our community. Because of our emphasis on Youth, most or our projects benefit the youth of our community.
Some of our past projects include;
The second Arts bus for the Fullerton School District. Our club completely funded this bus, which has been in service to Fullerton kids since Fall of 2005. As part of this program, elementary school children have the chance to take a digital picture or video project from concept to finished product. They incorporate a classroom concept, by writing, designing props, developing costumes, acting, recording and finally editing their digital creations for all to see. They can even take home a CD to show their families of their creativity. Check out http://www.apple.com/education/profiles/fullerton/
Digitizing the Ostrich Eggs for Breakfast book by Dora May Sim, a delightful book about early Fullerton History that is a required part of every third grade class. Our efforts paid for equipment and professional time for the Fullerton Public Library Children’s services department to bring this classic book to the Web. Assisting Critteton Services in Fullerton beautify their campus with tales and benches so moms and kids can enjoy the outdoors in a safe enjoyable setting.
These are just a few of the projects Fullerton Sunrise has undertaken in the past few years. Come join us and give back to the community. Become a Rotarian.
Rotarians recognize the importance of giving back to the community. After all, Community Service is one of the Four Avenues of Service. Every Rotary club and every Rotarian assumes a responsibility to find ways to improve the quality of life for those in their communities and to serve the public interest.
